Staff Biographies

Stephen J. Vargas, Esq.

Stephen J. Vargas, Esq. is the managing associate attorney at Stiene & Associates, P.C.  In addition to supervising the firm’s personnel and daily activity, Mr. Vargas has managed the Foreclosure Settlement Conference and Litigation Departments and focuses his practice on the more complex litigation issues facing our Firm. 

Mr. Vargas graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York and earned his law degree at Brooklyn Law School.  Prior to joining the Firm, he worked in the financial services industry and spent several years representing mortgage lenders and servicers in residential mortgage foreclosure actions, appearing at Foreclosure Settlement Conferences in twelve counties. Mr. Vargas is admitted to practice law in New York State Court, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and is a Commissioned Notary Public.  He is also a proud member of the Nassau County Bar Association and Suffolk County Bar Association.

 

Mr. Daniel Lebovic, Esq.

Mr. Daniel Lebovic, Esq. is an associate attorney at Stiene & Associates, P.C. Mr. Lebovic focuses his practice on complex litigation issues surrounding residential foreclosures.

Mr. Lebovic graduated from Cornell University with honors and earned his law degree at Emory University School of Law. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Lebovic successfully litigated, among other cases, an appeal to the Appellate Division, Second Department, preserving the trial court’s decision that his client was improperly denied $1,000,000.00 worth of indemnification by its insurance carrier. Mr. Lebovic has substantial experience litigating matters in both state and federal court. Mr. Lebovic is admitted to practice law in New York State Court, United States District Court – Eastern District of New York, United States District Court – Southern District of New York, Northern District of Georgia; 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals; 11th Circuit Court of Appeals; and is a Commissioned Notary Public in New York. Mr. Lebovic is also a proud member of the New York State Bar Association; Nassau County Bar Association; Suffolk County Bar Association; American Bar Association; State Bar of Georgia.

 

Ms. Eileen M. Ryan, Esq.

Ms. Eileen M. Ryan, Esq. is an associate attorney at Stiene & Associates, P.C. Ms. Ryan manages the Foreclosure Settlement Conference Department and is also focused on growing our real estate department.

Ms. Ryan graduated with honors from St. Joseph’s College and earned her law degree from St. John’s University, School of Law. Prior to joining our firm, Ms. Ryan drafted pleadings and motions for merger and acquisition cases and prepped complex securities cases for trial. Ms. Ryan is licensed to practice in New York State Court, and her admission for the United States District Court – Southern District of New York is currently pending. Ms. Ryan sits on the Board of Directors of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association, is an alternate delegate to the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York and is also a proud member of the New York City Bar Association.

 

Mr. Christopher Virga, Esq.

Mr. Christopher Virga, Esq. is an associate attorney at Stiene & Associates, P.C. Mr. Virga manages our First Legal Department, handling all aspects of commencing a lawsuit. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Virga researched and drafted an order of the Nassau Court Family Court which was printed in the New York Law Journal for the summer of 2007.

Mr. Virga graduated with honors from Hofstra University and earned his law degree from Touro College – Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. Mr. Virga is licensed to practice in New York State Court and is a Commissioned Notary Public. Mr. Virga is also a proud member of the Colombian Lawyers Association of Nassau County.

 

Mr. Colin McSherry, Esq.

Mr. Colin McSherry, Esq. is an associate attorney at Stiene & Associates, P.C. Mr. McSherry manages our Title Insurance Claim Department; he handles numerous legal issues surrounding title insurance and property law.

Mr. McSherry graduated from St. Michael’s College and earned his law degree at Suffolk University Law School. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. McSherry drafted various motions and trial memorandums focusing on insurance defense at a law firm in Massachusetts. Mr. McSherry is licensed to practice in New York State Court and is a proud member of the New York Bar Association and the American Bar Association

 

Ms. Christina Vergara, JD.

Ms. Christina Vergara, JD. is a senior law clerk at Stiene & Associates, P.C. Ms. Vergara focuses her practice on drafting residential foreclosure pleadings, motions and assisting the Foreclosure Settlement Conference Department.

Ms. Vergara graduated from Iona College and earned her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Prior to joining our firm, Ms. Vergara volunteered to represent criminal defendants in criminal proceedings in the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court and 14A Judicial District Court and drafted appeals concerning unemployment benefits to the Michigan Court of Appeals. Ms. Vergara is licensed to practice in both New Jersey State Court and the District Court of New Jersey and her admission to New York State Court is currently pending.

 

Mrs. Jessica Ferguson

Mrs. Jessica Ferguson, JD is a law clerk at Stiene & Associates, P.C. Ms. Ferguson focuses her practice on assisting the management and training of our First Legal Department, drafting residential foreclosure pleadings and motions and handling legal issues surrounding title claims.

Mrs. Ferguson graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. John’s University and earned her law degree at Hofstra University School of Law. Mrs. Ferguson has also earned her A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies from Nassau Community College. Prior to joining our firm, Mrs. Ferguson handled various legal, managerial and billing duties for a boutique bankruptcy and creditor’s rights law firm on Long Island. Mrs. Ferguson’s admission to New York State Court is pending.

 

Mr. Robert Griswold

Mr. Robert Griswold is an associate attorney at Stiene & Associates, P.C. Mr. Griswold manages the Bankruptcy Department focusing his practice on representing secured creditors in Bankruptcy Court and on all legal issues related to bankruptcy.

Mr. Griswold graduated from Fordham University and earned his law degree from St. John’s University, School of Law. While at St. John’s, Mr. Griswold served as Managing Editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and was published in the The Quarterly Journal of the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, October 2009. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Griswold clerked for Judge Robert E. Grossman, Bankruptcy Judge in the Eastern District of New York and worked as a bankruptcy associate at a law firm on Long Island. Mr. Griswold is a proud member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the American Bar Association.

 

Mr. Carlos Torres

Mr. Carlos Torres is the Paralegal Team Lead of our Residential Foreclosure First Legal Department. Mr. Torres ensures that all client deadlines and procedures are met, and ensures the quality of all work prior to the commencement of an action. He is a proven leader of a large team of paralegals.

Mr. Torres graduated from C.W. Post Long Island University and earned his A.B.A. Approved Certification in Paralegal Studies with honors also from C.W. Post Long Island University. Mr. Torres has over 8 years of managing paralegal experience including 7 years of experience in the area of residential foreclosures. Additionally, Mr. Torres is fluent in Spanish.

 

Ms. Brittany Deangelis

Ms. Brittany Deangelis is the Paralegal Team Lead and Compliance Supervisor of the Compliance Department. Ms. Deangelis monitors all client communication via client management systems and monitors the firm’s new referrals and client procedures and deadlines.

Ms. Deangelis earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minor in legal studies from Hofstra University. Prior to joining our firm, Ms. Deangelis worked for three years as a file clerk in the New York State foreclosure field. Ms. Deangelis is also a Commissioned Notary Public.

 

Ms. Kerry Callahan

Ms. Kerry Callahan is the Supervising Bankruptcy Paralegal of our Bankruptcy Department. In addition to managing the paralegals in her department, Ms. Callahan ensures compliance with all client procedures and client and court deadlines.

Ms. Callahan graduated from Keuka College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and earned her Paralegal Certificate with honors from Hofstra University. Prior to joining our law firm, Ms. Callahan worked as a paralegal in various legal practice areas including trusts and estates, real estate, criminal, matrimonial and personal injury. Ms. Callahan currently has over four years of experience in the area of residential foreclosure law.

 

Ms. Natalie Ko

Ms. Natalie Ko is the Supervising Paralegal of our Foreclosure Settlement Conference and Loss Mitigation Department. Ms. Ko manages her department’s daily activity and staff of paralegals and ensures that all client and court deadlines are met.

Ms. Ko graduated from Ithaca College and earned her A.B.A. Approved Certification in Paralegal Studies from New York University. Ms. Ko currently has over two years of experience in the area of residential foreclosure law. Ms. Ko is also fluent in Cantonese.

 

Mr. Richard Zaberto

Mr. Richard Zaberto is the Supervising Paralegal of our Litigation Department. In addition to managing his department’s personnel, Mr. Zaberto handles tax issues, title claims and assists with complex litigation issues.

Mr. Zaberto graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Law and subsequently earned his A.B.A. Approved Certification in Paralegal Studies from New York University. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Zaberto worked at a large Long Island law firm as a mortgage default litigation paralegal; he currently has over three years of experience in the field of residential foreclosure.

 

Ms. Silvia Carrillo

Ms. Silvia Carrillo is the Paralegal Team Lead of our Title Claim/Curative Department. Ms. Carrillo communicates regularly with clients and title companies and works alongside attorneys handling the legal issues of title insurance and property law.

Ms. Carrillo earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Saint John’s University. Prior to joining our firm, Ms.Carrillo gained over two years’ experience as a paralegal in the field of personal injury. Ms. Carrillo is also fluent in Spanish.
